Boucheron "Quatre" ring against Place Vendome
To make a short story even shorter, Meg and I are on the jury for this contest Boucheron is holding where you can write (briefly) about a precious moment and win a ring (entries accepted until June 30). You know nothing of madness until you try on the Quatre and are forced to give it back. What I like most about it are the unconventional parts: the solidness and the delicate spiky bits. It’s pretty, but it could also possibly hurt you.
Stealing was sort of the theme for the evening because afterwords, Meg and I went to the awesome Rubis café (such a good place to go if you’ve been shopping on rue Saint-Honoré and need a break from the hoity-toity), and this guy tried to steal Meg's purse. (This is a joke of course, the people sitting next to us were lovely and even gave us a sip from their very old bottle of wine. I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that it was probably the wine sipping that led to the purse wearing.)
A few more things:
-Umm, I don’t know, I haven’t checked the Boucheron site in a while, but a week ago, there were not that many English entries. And there’s a winner in each language category. Just saying.
-There are videos on the site of famous French people like Ines de la Fressange and Vanessa Seward talking about their favorite precious moments. Another person featured is a man named John Nollet, a hairstylist/model whom you may recognize from a recent appearance on The Sartorialist. This sounds like I am leading up to some declaration: I HEART him. I STALK him. Well, palm to the sky, it is not me, okay? But I do have a friend who, when we were at the fashion festival in Hyères recently, made me take a picture of her at a cocktail party with Monsieur Nollet in the near background, just to capture the moment she SHARED AIR with His Highness of Scruffiness! I won’t mention her name. I couldn't damage her street cred like that. Hmmuhahmm knows who she is, and that is enough.
what a unique contest. what inspired the contest?
each time i walk to place vendome after drinking my weight in hot chocolate from angelina, i'm already in a sugar hight and seeing the ritz and then dior and it is just too much goodness all at once.
the ring looks good on you.
love,
danny

My god, that ring looks like something Louis XIV might wear. I would wear that!

Am I missing something? Everytime I click on the site I just get a video of dreamy looking models sporting the ring, but can't seem to access the area where you can sumbit your "precious moment". What gives?

So very beautiful. Achingly so!
Must thank you for turning me onto thesartorialist too: John Nollet and everyone else on that site have made many days brighter.

I was delighted to "meet" you in Petite Anglaise. I feel like I've been let in on a secret relationship that exists only in France.

I'm a new blogger and I'm so glad I came across your blog! I'm studying in the US right now, but originally from Paris. I love how I can relate to your writings in my moments of nostalgie!

Quick question- is there really a winner for each language? the rules on the boucheron website don't make that clear even though they say there's a panel for each language. Recently an important moment occurred that I would love to write about. Thanks!

Ahh my precious...
Thank you so much for your site - I have been reading it forever!!

I came to your site quite by accident, looking for hints for Paris (planning to be there this early September, can't wait!), and after some heavy-duty reading, I wanted to say that I love your posts!
Then I learned about this contest, which inspired me so much that I wrote about my moment - my courtship w/ my honey - which I had never shared with anyone, not even my closest friends, since those feelings were so private.
Anyhow, it was a fun, creative outlet for me, since it combined everything that I love; my bf, writing, and jewelry. Gosh, that ring is to die for...! {Drool}
Hope you will check out my blog when you have a chance. Cheers! :)

If licorice allsorts became all posh and started to bling out, I think they would look mighty similar to this ring!

Posted by: lauren | 16 July 2008 at 06:52 AM
who won the contest?!
Posted by: lauren | 17 July 2008 at 07:35 AM
Yah, who won the contest? I checked the Boucheron website on 16th July, as they instructed, to see who the winner is and there was no mention of it! Do you know what the story is? Seems strange. Merci!

hey guys, i have put in a request to the boucheron people to ask what's going on!
Posted by: Coquette | 17 July 2008 at 11:37 AM

Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and NFL Football Jerseys love. But the greatest of these is love. http://www.jersey-usa.com/sitemap.html

Fierce the west wind,
Wild geese cry under the frosty morning moon.
Under the frosty morning moon
Horses' hooves clattering,
Bugles sobbing low.
