1. Géraldine and Garance posted their video from Hyères today. (In French, but with subtitles.) Hyères is the annual fashion festival in southern France where people like Viktor & Rolf and Charles Anastase were discovered. And I was there also!
I’m really hoping that Sandra, the winner of the prize for best fashion designer, becomes famous because then I can say that I shared a cab with her on the way to a really horrible club called Domino. (This is true, and it’s even funnier if you have seen Domino.)
Like everyone I talked to that weekend, I'm a little in love with Peter Bertsch though. He should have a show someday, like Isaac. Watch the video, you'll see!
2. If you read French, Sened has been blogging from Cannes all week. Apparently the new Tarantino is “Pas mal, mais bon.”
3. Also, Clotilde looking so French (her hair! perfect!) on the Today Show. And Ann Curry pronouncing “herbes” with a silly French accent. P.S. For those of you following at home, Clotilde and I did indeed get to hang out when she passed through Chicago last weekend. She wore red patent leather flats--"I wore them for you," she said--and we went to Paul Kahan's Avec, the more casual little sister to Blackbird. We liked it. Don't worry, despite the name, it's American Contemporary! I didn't take her somewhere French!
Sounds like you've had lots of exciting things going on, Elisabeth! And how cool that you got to spend time with Clotilde while she was in Chicago. I still haven't gotten my hot little hands on her book, but I can't wait to see it and to make the recipes!! The odd thing is, I don't know how I'm going to decide between the US and UK editions, because I've been cooking with the metric system, so logically I need the UK edition -- but I really like the cover of the US edition! Because Clotilde is ON it! Oh why oh why did they have to make two different editions?! (I know, I know, 2 different publishing houses -- but STILL!!)
Sorry to have gone off on a tangent there. I'm now off to visit JoliKiwi's cool Cannes blog posts. I'm dying to see what she has to say about Wong Kar Wei's Blueberry Nights. I know it got lukewarm reviews overall, but I LOVE THAT MAN! I feel like he can do no wrong. But I'm far from a cinema expert.
So great to read you again!

OK, for JoliKiwi I meant "he"... But you knew what I meant, right? OOPS. En tout cas, disappointment that he didn't get to see My Blueberry Nights apparently, but oh well!

I am sorry to have to note that avec is so not American Contemporary and it is owned by not just Paul but Donnie Madia and Eduard Seitan too and, in fact, the chef in the kitchen is Koren Grieveson. Good thing you liked it, though.
