and you know that thing you do when you pass people who are sitting on the terrace, where you squint and pretend like you’re looking for someone you're meeting, but really you’re just scoping the scene? You’re totally gawking but playing it off like you’re not a gawker?
Try not to run into one of those iron waist-high poles while you’re doing that.
In other news, it’s been a very blogger social week here in Paris. Bluepoppy is in town, and the woman won me over from the first moment we talked on the phone, when she said she wasn’t sure WHAT was going on with the fashion she’d seen so far and that “This bobo look has got to gogo.” She is the most vivacious-yet-somehow-chill spirit I have come across EVER. We ate with Clotilde at Vin des Pyrénées in the Marais (25 rue Beautreillis) Tuesday night, and again, there was the uncanny clicking, and the sitting and talking way past dessert and coffee, and the mutual understanding and the laughing. Clotilde is just one of those people who makes you feel better about the world in general. Then, last night was this little 300 person party my friend Nathan helps to organize called Paris Blogue-T-Il--MORE. GOOD. TIMES.
Enough! Enough with the nice blog people! It’s too much niceness! I am going to be spending time with fashion types very soon and I’m out of shape! The dork in me grows stronger by the minute and all the while the callous skin I developed while working in fashion becomes softer and squishier! You people are RUINING Me. And do you know that I've gained four kilo (okay, six) since I started this blog last year? Ten pounds! That's your fault, too!
I guess this is as good a time as any to say that I am totally overwhelmed by the good everyone thows at me via this blog, whether online or in real life, and it does not go unappreciated. On the contrary.
Update: A pic of me and Bluepoppy at Paris Blogue-t-il.
You were at the Paris Blogue-t-il last night?! I was hoping I would see you there, but despite all the lovely photos you have posted to help stalkers like me track you down, you somehow escaped notice. Very disappointed :-(

Living in the boonies has pretty much nixed my chances at blogger meet-ups, but I do know what you mean about people being so stinking nice. I guess reading someone's deepest fears and silly blunders is a nice way to get past all the superficial stuff when you do finally meet.
And if anyone is ever interested in a nice 'Ardeche Blog-il'or the like, I'm game.

beaucoup love from a reader in Los Angeles! just promise that you'll keep posting as you get back into the world of the fashion types.

Not to be too geeky, but 6 kilos is really 13.2 lbs. 2.2lbs per kilo you see... Of course, of all the SI units, I hate the ones for weight the most.

Hey. I've gained six kilos and I've only been here 10 days! Merde. I should've known it was all due to blogging. Putain.

Maybe you can be known as that freaky "nice girl" in the fashion world. And then, being nice and sweet and authentic will be "in" - for, like, a whole season. Or you could always hang out with Zac Posen. He looks soo sweet!
Don't go to the dark side - NO GOING TO THE DARK SIDE!
:)

I am still SO JALOUSE that all of these events occur in Paris. Someone move one to Lyon! Everyone could even sleep on the floor of my tiny apartment! On the terrasse even!

lacoquette arrived fashionably late, and became immediatly the center of attention... Nathan was so relieved to finally see a real blogospheric star... :D

aru, GREAT to meet you!
gina, i'm jalouse of having a terrace--i'd sleep there.
schuey, i did arrive late, but it's because i had a work phone call from US thing. i stayed rather unfashionably late though.

That's very funny, about the pole. Brings back fond memories of my gawky childhood when I crashed into a parked car while reading while riding my bicycle.

Ahh so all this "non losing weight despite all my efforts" is actually because of the blog ? Thank you Lacoquette, you helped me a lot today ;-)

I love checking out the photos from the blogue-t-il; always some familiar faces, and always a bunch of new ones. It looks like another great time. Nice pic of the two of you, and consider some more good thrown!
