It was for something new--a fashion glossy being launched by Chicago magazine. Umm, we shot Lanvin and Andrew GN in Paris, so that tells you something about the demographic. Read: super sophisticated and, I hate terminology like “high-end” and “well-heeled,” but alas, if the Jimmy Choo fits. The stylist was the brilliant Stacey Jones.
You lucky, lucky midwestern fashionplates--Paris is coming.

The lovely Keira multi-tasking between shots.
*sigh* Still no pics of you... ;)

That's the way I like it, sorry Charlie :)

Oh, how you spoil us so...great photos!
Posted by: Marilyn | 27 May 2005 at 03:39 PM
OOH Coquette, you prove you can have fun and do good deeds (for our dear Midwesterners) at the same time!
Posted by: Sammy | 27 May 2005 at 04:21 PM
I like that, Sammy. I don't sit on any boards, I don't do any volunteer work, but damned if I don't play a (small) role in bringing the fashion to Illinois.

Aaahhh, look at all those lovely, just lovely, clothes. Good thing I'm going to go shopping now, to nip some of that longing in the bud.

Fab! I loved the pics... and that space. How very cool. I can't wait to see what's coming next... and yay for bringing fashion to the midwest! :)

IS there a 'Nobel Prize for Fashion'?
Posted by: Sammy | 27 May 2005 at 07:55 PM
Thanks for the heads up. Luckily I live in Chicago and will keep and eye out for that issue!

I'm loving the photo of the multicolored wall and ALL the supplies it takes to get a girl ready for a fashion shoot. Good grief. You have a great photojournalistic eye. These are details I don't expect to see in the next issue of "Chicago Affluence" or whatever it's called.

when you said keira did you mean keira knightley? haha, shot in the dark but i was curious. i couldn't find where (if) you did mention who the shoot was for. lovely pics btw. hehe. i wish i had a stylist 24/7.

*sigh* You keep tempting me with clothing. I am not supposed to be buying clothes. I am supposed to be decorating my apartment.
Posted by: Dagny | 28 May 2005 at 07:43 AM
Hello dear Coquette.
What a treat. I know that this might sound a bit sad, but I loved the coloured ceiling, the faint drawings on the walls, the chandelier, the shutters, the louis chairs...etc. The whole set is fab and so glam in a way.Still no photos of you, camera shy??? Now how would i be able to run screaming like a salivating lecherous troll " COQUETTE" next time I pump into you in the streets of lovely Paris if I do not know how you look???? Damn,I'm green with envy now.

hmmm... I like this. But then not a surprise.
Posted by: schuey | 28 May 2005 at 02:10 PM
There are so many things to enjoy in just the first picture. The dry, cracked, Louvre-esque parquet, cigarette girl, the photog's funky slip-ons, all of the equipment it takes to put one model in a stripped down apartment onto the pages of a fashion mag...
Great post, Coquette!
Posted by: DDJ | 28 May 2005 at 04:37 PM
DDJ, you never cease to amaze me. I LOVED the photographer's shoes. They're turquoise Vans with palm trees on them. Those black and white checked Vans are having a real moment in Paris right now, but the palm trees! I wanted them, even if skater chic is sooo not my style in case you were wondering...
Africankelli, I think those details are super interesting, too. Wish I could have shown you all more of the model's shots--they were really, really cool.
Camel Breeder, I'm mysterious DAMN IT. (I feel like the kid in Almost Famous who is sooo not dark and mysterious, telling Kate Hudson's character "I am dark and mysterious.") Damn it.

OOoh my gosh, you have such a cool job. What exactly is your job again? I always get confused. I'm so jealous you get to see those beeeautiful clothes all the time. Then again, maybe I should envy those rich ppl who get first dibs on those clothes...

Very cool pictures. Sounds like you are having a great time.

Hi Coquette --
Just wanted to tell you thank you for the pictures. I have a serious obsession with France, and you've been an outlet for my non-France-living self. So thank you again -- I absolutely love the look of maisons francaises. :)

great pix, and just to add on what others have said about that first shot. the backlighting gives it a euphoric feel. i'm humming along to Sheila E's 'Glamorous Life' as i scroll through... ;)

I am impatient to see the final result ! will it be available at Colette or anywhere in Paris ?
Posted by: Negrito | 29 May 2005 at 10:41 PM
Harrod's Girl, what do I do? I was going to do some glib listing of my five or six jobs here and then be all "besides THAT, you mean"? But your question is v. fair. Since I never write about work (unless there's a story), how would you know? The answer is, I do all freelancy under-the-table-type stuff (tutoring, dogsitting, writing, assisting on shoots) because I literally CAN'T be hired to work in France until my damn carte d'identite comes through.
I enjoy the variety, and I'm actually, FINALLY, making a quasi-barely-scraping-living. I haven't turned on my t.v. in three weeks. I work hard, trust me.
Negrito, I will try to secure you a copy...

What a Freudian slip. Don't expect any pictures now!

You know, for some obscure reason, I think of this post whenever I'm watching that show airing on M6 every Tuesday night!
Do you have the final pictures that were published in the magazine? Just asking ;)
