In a special segment we’re starting called “Ask My French Cousin Jeanne,” Jeanne shares her thoughts on some of the hottest new programs in France this fall. (Editor would also like to note no apologies to Jonathan Safran Foer.)
For commencement, it is pleasurable to be here. Well, let me be jumping in now. We just obtained two emissions that are seeming supercool:
One of them chronicles some very alluring, but very not satiated youths. It is called The C.O. or The O.C. or something like this. (What is it with the Americans and word abridgment? Coquette says “keep it on the DL” so recurringly, I am beginning to clutch the meaning, but MIA, AWOL, AOL, CIA, O.J....I am never keeping it aligned)
Anyway, the show is highly premium. Better than 90210 and Baywatch, if this is even possible. Coquette tells me that there are many things in the US that have not identicalness with California, but when I imagine the US, I am always conceiving beaches--like Americans with the Tour Eiffel, no?
Before I am forgetting, Coquette also said I must write that she “called it” that The O.C. would emerge here, too. She is always saying many things. One of these things is “you French are obsessed with California.”
The other emission is called Les Queer- 5 Experts Dans le Vent and it is what we call “tele-realite.” It involves five men of “homo” orientation giving some “makeovers” to a heterosexual male. Coquette feels fury at this program, yet this does not shackle her from watching it. The “not okay” thing seems to be that these five French men have abducted the personalities of the men in the US who pioneered this show. It is really the blonde expert of fashion, Benjamin, who she says is snatching the body (bodygrabber, something like this?) of someone called “Carson” in the US.
She also is wanting me to add that we do not necessitate the show here, because she is saying “all Parisian guys are metrosexual.”
