Jeanne calls the video store at Place Maubert a "nursery" -- each boy who works there is cuter than the next.

One classic Woody Allen film, returned on time:  4.60 euro.

One bus ride in the pouring rain:  1.40 euro.

Hearing the tall blond cashier, with his adorable, perfectly imperfect crooked nose say, “Ça va?  Pas trop froid?” as I stand there soaking wet:  Priceless.

» Movies You Must See from Good For You
Over at La Coquette, people are confessing to not having seen Annie Hall. Here is a baker's dozen of movies, all made before 1980, that you must see, pronto. 1. Casablanca 2. The Palm Beach Story 3. Vertigo 4. The... [Read More]

And the Woody Allen was?

Annie Hall. Can you believe I had never seen it? SO GREAT. Makes me nostalgic for a New York I never knew.

How about those cameos!

Uh, hello? I forgot my mantra.

I TOTALLY KNOW! I was all, "Whaaaa? Was that Jeff Goldblum?" REWIND.

And can I just say it took me quite some time to realize that was Paul Simon. And Shelly Duval? You're in my peergroup, DDJ--do you remember those fairytale films she and her father produced?

"Fairy Tale Theater," right? On Showtime. Why aren't they on dvd yet? I totally loved them. Jennifer Beals as "Cinderella." I think Christopher Reeves was in "Sleeping Beauty."

Re: cameos. How about Carol Kane as the Communist Jewish intellectual first wife? And Sigourney Weaver at the bitter end of the film?

Absolutely! That series also had a huge number of famous people in it. It was like Hollywood was trying to get to us while we were young, with a steady diet of A-list actors and celebs.

There was also Mother Goose Rock 'n' Rhyme, which despite the fact that I was a 10-year-old boy, was one of my favorite movies of the time.

Nice call on bringing back that memory, Coquette.

you're watching woody allen movies in paris, and it's rainy?
very cool.

We're all waiting for the fairytale theatre dvds?! How funny! I thought it was just my family!!

Co,

I just saw Annie Hall for the first time too. That was even Truman Capote!! Wild.

I just saw Barry Lyndon for the first time. My French correspondante's father, every time I visited over the ten years we exchanged, would always ask me the moment I arrived "tu n'as pas encore vu barry lyndon!!!???!!!" Now that I'm living here they felt the need to invite me over expressly to watch their DVD of it. I think he had scotland and ireland confused.

My favourite woody allen is Mighty Aphrodite. Highly recommend it.

I've never seen Annie Hall either. I must do that one day.

Off the subject...but my heart is beating so fast Coquette!

I just saw my blog in YOUR links- I am not worthy... does this mean fame, fortune and power (my sole mmotivation for starting a blog to begin with) are coming my way?
:)

I can't believe you all remember Fairie Tale Theatre (I feel like they spelled it all schmancy like that)! I love it too. "I am not a toad, I am a FROG! and fiercely proud of it."

All that and more, Sammy. All that and more. *she takes drag from cigar and puts her feet up*

Welcome to the dark side, Sammy. If you'll just sign these documents...

so--- hmmm, J'imagine there was a wet t-shirt with something that would give him the impression of being chilled? ca alors!

Yeah, but they're all gay (the guys at the videostore)
